![]() Like, why do we all know Lyra wants to be a human? Why do we call Muffins 'Derpy'? Why is Fluttershy a tree? Why does Twi being incest with her BBBFF not shock anyone anymore? We took it so far, that all these background ponies had stories already that they didn't even need to make for them. ![]() They had gone crazy with it! You had to be a brony during those peak years to really have seen just how crazy this movement was! Conventions with the voice actors being flown in for panels like it was comic con every year popping up over the US Canada and some of Europe (that I know of), music's and music videos, arts of all kinds, a whole new level of worldbuilding created entirely out of the minds and common interested for the show of the bronies. And it was, although not solely due to it, but largely due to the brony Fandom. So in case you're unaware (OP or otherwise), Slice of Life was the 100th episode of MLP:FiM, which they never thought they'd get to make (let alone another 100 and then some). Then we pretty much never see the donkeys again, let alone the dragon, and the background ponies become background ponies again without being affected in any way by what happened during the special episode so. So who cares? And still, they delivered a pretty banging story with ups and downs and legit tension throughout the entire episode (which I always thought was funny, that the background ponies spent the entire episode they had to themselves running around just as they always do in the background □♂️), so episode story itself? Yes. I always felt tho that they knew that story would never hold up on its own, so I feel like they used the special episode as an excuse to zazz it up, u know?īut it's OK because the episode itself isn't meant to be anything more than a recognition of the Fandom and a sorta thank you. We only ever saw cranky the ass once before and it had to do with getting back with his younger-self's love, so a concluding episode about them getting married is good in the overall show up to this point. The story is essentially just the wedding. Fandom wise an episode filled with fan service targeted at the brony Fandom can't overlook the effect it had on said FandomĪnd if I see 1 reply that says I'm overanalyzing this, I agree ! □ Show wise writing choices, production, what it meant for the series, the significance of it etc. Story wise how does the story of the episode hold up on its own, and then into the show as a whole So we've got a few aspects to consider here, amongst others: I've been waiting for someone to ask me this since I've watched it □ you asked for it □□♂️ (FYI, I'm a cinephile, and a brony so, don't hate if I ever contradict myself □□)
